Step Into Love for 2016……Even Beyond Valentine’s Day! #ActivateYourLove

By  |  1 Comment

What is love? This was a question of the night and Ms. Tray Kearney candidly, got us talking while painting gratitude jars and canvases to break the ice.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

There’s something to be said when the chief activator herself, Lucinda Cross calls on a panel of heavy hitters to discuss love and relationships on the eve of Valentine’s Day weekend.  On this past Thursday, February 11th, the Queen of Vision Boards hosted the Activate Love Board event to a packed house of visionaries.  Here’s the recap.

Walking into the office of the event sponsors eCreditHero, over looking NYC’s Grand Central Station on a very cold winter night, I had no idea how the conversation was going to heat up over the course of the next few hours.  While I follow the work and knew of two of the panelist, Rae Holliday and Charli PennI was pleasantly introduced to both Chrissy Monroe and Tray Kearney.

As you entered the space, it was so very appropriately decorated with dim lighting, candles and affirming quotes to set the atmosphere. While in true “Robin” fashion, Lucinda’s bff Robin Devonish got the crowd ready; and ready we were as Venice Garner lovingly shared a poem with us.

Now I’ve been to more vision board events than I can count (including with Queen Lucinda), even hosted a few myself and yet still this was very much its own experience that I was happy to have shared with some of my tribe as well as other go-getters. Having the various perspective of the female panelist, Rae’s male perspective, particularly on the topic of greatness was just the icing on the cake. However; don’t sleep for one minute, Mama Activator, Lucinda kept us connected to our #activateyourlove vision.

From talking about side chicks, to wives, to being happily single or even successful in business, the key ingredient at every stage is self-love.  Removing men, women and all other persons from the equation of being responsible for your happiness, in order to truly love and embrace the vision of your life, you must first do the work to love yourself.  Only then will you truly be able to show up whole in relationships.  Particularly with relationship to your vision, Lucinda challenged attendees to “not treat your vision like a side chick, God has given you an assignment.” Attendees were charged to identify and tap into their desires and go after them.  We can’t invite love into our lives without having dealt with the barriers that we have up that continue to block love out.

“Love gives everything and doesn’t ask for anything.” – Lucinda Cross

So you think you’re going to a pre-Valentines day event, that it would be about romantic relationships, but leave to Lucinda to flip the whole script that you have to dig way deeper than merely finding some catchy quotes and colorful pictures to glue on a board.  Too much time is spent on the commercialism of Valentines day when in reality, none of it guarantees healthy love. The kind love that we say we want but don’t always know how to treat it when we get it, if we even notice it in the first place.  That love that’s generated and felt through our energy when we walk in a room before we even utter a word. The kind of love that is recognized by the fruit of your life (Matthew 7:16).

Over the course of the conversation, there were just too many tweetble, hashtag moments to count, but I’m gonna to give y’all the highlights of the evening in 5 ways to step into Love.

1.  #NoSideChicking – “The side chick S don make you super, it makes you stupid.”

“You deserve the best; now go get it.”  – Tray Kearney

Affirmation: I Deserve Love

2. “We can’t win if we’re sharing him. Healthy love, happy love; Love like you mean it! Your heart is your sexist quality, be your best self.  It’s okay to want to be love; never be afraid to want to be loved.  If you stop thinking about what you want, and start thinking about what you don’t want; it’s just as important. You have to claim it and activate!” – Charlie Penn

Affirmation: Love is Mine

3.  “Who you surround yourself with? What do we accept that our brothers and sisters do? Love yourself and a loving crew; hold them responsible and accountable; but don’t be afraid to cut them off.  Once you love yourself, nobody can get over. Be loyal to the right people. Work on being great, once you know your great…..your good! When you’re great you handle yourself accordingly and if somebody doesn’t see your greatness, they got to go! You’ve got to stay surrounded by great people. You know that your great because you stay surrounded by great people and you won’t worry about people loving you wrong.” – Rae Holliday

Affirmation: I Love you   (your name)

4.  “Beware of the tug of the familiar.  Not wanting to be alone has you feeling sorry for yourself and co-dependent.  When you’re happy, you attract happiness to yourself. I started loving me for me.”

Affirmation:  I Love myself

5.  The sponsor of the event eCreditHero is offering to help 10,000 people clean up their credit for free.  One sure way to show self love and to financially prepare to be in an relationship in 2016, is to ensure that your finances are in order.  While this is a critically important area, it is one that often goes neglected. “If you’re foolish with your money, your probably foolish with other things.

There were just so many nuggets and take aways from the Activate Love Board event, that if I had to narrow it down to one; I couldn’t.  What I would say is, Love begins with self-love and that starts with me and you. Love is verb and requires activation. By showing up fully to every aspect of your life, you will attract love and also access to the vision that God has already ordained to be yours.

Anything to add, leave a comment?  If you haven’t done so already, step into love for 2016, go and #activateyourlove

This sounds like an amazing event! Surprisingly, I’ve never been to any kind of vision board building event. I totally agree with the concept that love begins with self-love – how can we try love anyone if we don’t love ourselves?
