Project/Activity Review

By  |  4 Comments

In one of my previous posts entitled “Favorite Holiday To-Do”, I talked about introducing and reacquainting ourselves to service/volunteer opportunities, both as individuals and families overall. Since then, I’ve forged ahead and am so excited to give this Project Activity Review!

Lets do this together!

Together we can make a difference

Last week I completed my New York Cares Volunteer Orientation which was probably one of the most painless things I’ve ever had to sit through.  It was somewhat interactive, straight to the point and the presenter was engaging to say the least.

This week I signed up for and completed my 1st project which was an all around great experience.  Identifying an assignment of my interest on their website was pretty easy to do.  I was able to find something close to my job and during my lunch hour.  I can’t say enough about how guilt-free and gratifying it was to do my small part (with no long-term committment).

I was also able to register for a family volunteer project for December, and the children couldn’t be more excited.  We will be going to a senior center in Brooklyn, to play Nintendo Wii (yes, can you believe it).

New York Cares provides a volunteer experience for just about everyone, I’m convinced.  Check them out and get involved, you not only won’t be sorry but will be figuring out how to do more.  So go ahead and sign-up you’ll be glad that you did.

Let me know if you have any specific questions related to my experience or other possible opportunities.  Give me the deets on your service work and/or keep me updated if you join New York Cares.

I actually joined nycares. And did the virtual training. It was pretty cool. They have an abundance of activities to take part in. I’m sure the children will enjoy helping others, learning & having fun at the same time.
