New Year, New Job!

One aspect of our lives that many of us think about at the beginning of the year is our career.  Whether it landing a new position, advancing with your current company or adding consulting services to your repertoire, most of us look to get ahead.

For many years I basically created my own resume and cover letter by a combination of online tips, friends and resume books.  And honestly speaking I thought they were pretty okay, I mean I seemed to have landed jobs. However; back in 2011 when returning to the workforce after having been on childcare leave for four years, I realized the game had changed.  Not only did the job market become extremely competitive, I had no clue how to strategically present my work experience, skills/accomplishments and volunteerism.

Deciding to get a professional resume was the best thing that I could have done and I highly recommend it any and everyone that asks (even those that don’t ask). Not only did I get an extreme makeover: resume edition, the consultation in itself, helped me to organize my thinking in terms of next steps and career direction. Having a professional resume is also a definite confidence booster which is half the battle of the daunting job search battle.

It’s the top of the year and while I don’t need a complete overhaul, I’m heading back to TAYLORmade: Professional Career Consulting for my 2014 update!

I’m not sure where you are in your career journey, but if you’re in need of a boost you may want to check out TAYLORmade. 2014: New Year, New Job, let’s get it!
