Quality time that goes a long way.

Whether you identify as spiritual or religious, it  is very common for many of us to begin our day with some form of morning meditation, prayer or reflective time.  Intentionally beginning the day with that sacred time provides us a space to obtain the needed clarity and perspective to determine the outcomes of our day.

I often get into lengthy conversations about how that spiritual foundation is currently missing in today’s instant gratification society.  With the impact of this spiritual void contributing to much of the negativity that is so prevalent in our communities. But, I digress……. that’s another post, another day!

Once you’ve developed a regular spiritual life, missing morning devotional time is like leaving the house without your cell phone.  Just as some get in their early morning exercise in order to maintain physical fitness that provides the necessary energy to get your through the day, it is just as important to get your devotional workout to support growth and maintain a spiritual fitness needed to support you through everyday challenges.

Some may not be aware, but our very own President Barak Obama has a meaningful daily devotional life.  The depth of which he engages in a regular spiritual practices for his own grounding are both impressive and inspirational in itself. Not only does he comfortably reference scripture during speeches and public addresses, the President convenes an annual call on his birthday with religious leaders who pray for him and his year to come.  Since 2008 he also receives a daily morning devotional via Blackberry, prepared just for him by Joshua DuBois.  The devotinal includes both bible scriptures and other reflections, before his White House staff even begin to arrive.  If the President can make quality time, so can I and so can you!

Joshua DuBois, the informal spiritual advisor to the President, releases a book tomorrow October 22nd entitled, “The President’s Devotional: The Daily Readings That Inspired Obama”.

This I know to be true….. when I start my morning with meditation and then prayer I’m in better spirits and accomplish more versus when I just get out of bed and down to biz….. must take care of the mind and soul everything else follows….. Good Morning!

“Falling in love with Jesus was the best thing I ever done” Kisha, this morning the news is reporting that a twelve years old went to middle school with an automatic weapon, killed a Teacher, shot two students and turned the gun on himself.

Devotional time for me has become a way of life, without it the world is a scary place, with it I find refuge and comfort in the masters arms.

    Thank you, and God bless.

Thanks to my sis-in-law, my husband and I start our everyday with a morning marriage devotion. Its the best thing we could do. No matter what lies ahead, we start with the good word in our hearts. I don’t have a specific scripture but a daily reading goes a long way. Not to mention bring us closer together aswell. Stay blessed.

Sherly, when the there is a solid foundation in anything, it’s really hard to break even as it goes through the storm. Scripture can and will do just what you mentioned.

Calandra a huge THANK YOU for this resource. Folks will read this even if they don’t comment, they will see and prayerfully make good use of Silent Unity.
